- For light players, we recommend Stun Gun, Breach Charge, and Vanishing Bomb.
- Intermediate level players should try out the APS turret, defibrillator, and jump pads.
- The RPG-7, Barricade and Dome Shield are great choices for heavyweight participants.
Each contestant in the Finals can choose from three tools to bring into the arena. The choices are plentiful. Season 3 will introduce even more gadgets, such as Light’s thermal bore. Even if you’re able to bring additional tools in your reserve loadout, choosing from these can be a dizzying task. Read on for our top recommendations that take into account all playstyles.
The best gadgets explained
Most classes can use the same gadgets in each loadout, but some tools are exclusive to a particular class – for example, the Light build has the Breach Charge and the Heavy build has the RPG-7. The best gadgets in the game are:
- stun gun
- Violation Fee
- The disappearing bomb
- APS Turret
- Defibrillators
- Jump pads and zip lines
- Roleplaying
- barricade
- Dome Shield
Depending on your playstyle, you may prefer some items over others. For example, stealthy light players will prefer Vanishing Bombs over Goo Grenades. In terms of defensive tactics, a Defibrillator can help you revive your teammates faster and maintain your position in the game. Our recommendations will help new and experienced players reshape their existing gear and tactics.

Best lightweight gadget
As a light player, add these gadgets to your loadout.
stun gun
Despite its nerf, the Stun Gun remains a deadly threat, freezing enemies in place and leaving them vulnerable to attack. However, missing an attack leaves you vulnerable to enemy fire. Pair it with a close-range weapon like a Shotgun or Sword to reach its full potential. Alternatively, you can ask a teammate to bring along the new Dual Blades or Spear weapons in Season 3 to finish the job.
Violation Fee
Breach Charges can and should be used to blast away terrain, much like the RPG-7. They’re great for clearing walls, floors, and other obstacles that get in your way. They can be placed on destructible surfaces and detonated remotely, giving you time to reposition and strategize before they start causing chaos. Cashouts can also be dropped onto another floor this way. To accomplish this from a distance, consider Season 3’s new Thermal Bore.
The disappearing bomb
Light players can cloak individually, but Vanishing Bomb can also hide allies from enemies. Be careful, as you can be caught by motion trackers. Still, it’s an effective way to ambush enemies or retreat from them. If you want a movement option in addition to the Grappling Hook specialization, consider Gateway. Its portal ability allows your team to travel incredible distances.

Best mid-range gadgets
Intermediate players can use the following items to help their allies in battle:
APS Turret
We start off our Medium list with one of the best zoning tools in the game. Use the APS Turret to maintain control of an area. It automatically targets enemy projectiles, grenades, and utilities, allowing you to focus on other priorities. Perfect for protecting entrances or when fleeing to the nearest Cash Out Station. Combined with a regular Guardian Turret, it protects from most explosives. Frag and Pyro grenades cannot reach the turret’s fort. This combination is perfect for terminal attacks, as enemies cannot recover health and gadgets in this game mode.
Defibrillators
The Defibrillator is one of the best gadgets for a medium build because it allows you to revive dead teammates in a pinch. Anyone can revive a teammate, but it takes time. In comparison, the Defibrillator allows you to revive them almost instantly. Just be careful not to get hit by explosive mines or gas grenades.
Its usefulness speaks for itself. If you’re the last on your team to defend a Cash Out and you have an ally nearby, you can revive them in the blink of an eye and turn the tide of the fight in a major turnaround. Combine this with the Healing Beam specialization on a medium build and you’ll be a full-fledged Medic, reviving allies and keeping them alive. Keep in mind that this is useless in Terminal Attack mode, as revives are not allowed.
Jump pads and zip lines
We paired these two together because they excel at increasing the mobility of your troops. Medium class players can support their allies by making the terrain easier to navigate. The Jump Pad is especially effective when used near a drawbridge. Shoot the button to slowly tilt the bridge, unlocking the full potential of this gadget. The Zipline is a great way to travel between tall structures without risking a fall. To counter these mobility tools, use the new Data Reshaper to turn them into harmless objects.

Best Gadget for Heavy Class
Here’s what the durable Heavy class has to bring to the match:
RPG-7
In the game, almost the entire arena is destructible, so having something that can destroy walls, floors, and ceilings is very useful. Heavy is the only class that can use the RPG-7, which makes them experts at creating openings and exits. It is just as effective in ranked tournaments.
If the cashout is happening on an upper floor and is heavily defended, blast the floor from below to drop down to your level. If you need to get to the other side of the building, blow a hole in the wall. The RPG-7 recharges, so it can be used over and over again. Heavy classes can also use the Sledgehammer as a weapon to clear terrain for their troops, but ranged weapons are recommended here.
Don’t forget your gadgets exist and charge them
While it’s easy to forget about your kit in the middle of an intense firefight, using all your tools can mean the difference between your squad being wiped out and a close call.
barricade
Barricades are only available to Heavy class participants and do exactly what their name suggests. You can place multiple barricades to provide cover when you’re out in the open. You can also place barricades in narrow corridors to slow down pursuing enemies. Barricades can withstand damage and are extremely useful for your team when pushing forward into open objective areas or when you need to defend your position. Extremely versatile, the Barricade is a must-have gadget for every Heavy loadout.
Dome Shield
As a heavy team player, the Heavy class can use the Dome Shield to protect allies from damage. This is not limited to bullets. Situations such as meteors on the map can make extracting and storing Multibucks in large spaces a pain. Use this to protect your team against threats. There is a cooldown, so don’t be too picky about where you place this gadget. If you want an offensive option instead, use it in conjunction with the new Winch Claw specialization, which allows you to pull enemies in, Scorpion style.
