The world’s largest office building is a spectacular sight, costing $388 million and featuring more than 130 elevators.
Surat Diamond Exchange (SDB) is so huge that it knocked the previous title holder, the Department of Defense, off the podium.
This gemstone stands out above all others and stands proudly in India’s ‘City of Dreams’ Surat, where 90 per cent of the world’s gemstones are cut.
amazing tower It took nine years to construct and opened in December 2023.
Set on more than 35 acres of land, the 15-story complex boasts 7.1 million square feet of floor space and is touted as a one-stop shop for more than 65,000 diamond professionals.
Marble floors and a light-filled atrium provide the perfect setting for a diamond cutting and polishing workshop.
The exchange aims to be a hub for all jewelry-related activities, including sales, manufacturing machinery, software, and laboratory-made jewelry.
This amazing development also features 131 elevators and stylish amenities.
Conference halls, multi-purpose banquet halls, restaurants, banks, and retail stores are all available for the fancy business enthusiast.
The complex also includes an extensive recreation zone, offering a “sophisticated yet calming atmosphere where members and visitors can feel at ease.”
Mahesh Gadavi, the project’s CEO, said in a speech during construction that it would save thousands of people the hassle of traveling by train to Mumbai for business.
The building was the brainchild of an Indian architecture firm called Morphogenesis after an international design competition.
Regarding construction details, the company said: “The central spine is used for interconnections between towers at all levels.
“The design enhances the user’s spatial and transitional experiences throughout the building without emphasizing the expanse of the structure.
“The central axis connecting all offices is designed as an interactive hub consisting of break spaces, a lush atrium and a number of visual experiences.
“These spaces are designed to foster social cohesion and community participation.”
They believe the building’s layout will create a “level playing field” for businesses large and small.
The project’s CEO told CNN that the size of the building was determined by demand and that all of the offices were acquired by diamond companies before construction.
great office Features Nine rectangular towers interconnected via a central “spine”.
It features 4,500 diamond workshops ranging in size from 300 square feet to 75,000 square feet.
Its interiors draw in natural light and shine with jewellery, giving the £302 million development a spacious feel.
Domestic and international buyers flock to this huge office district in search of business.
It also offers an avid custom house with a national diamond institute, an international convention center, international educational facilities and a five-star hotel.
No wonder this jewel-filled building has state-of-the-art security measures and over 4,000 surveillance cameras.
The SDB website states that the campus is “highly secure” and that there are “checkpoints at all entrances and exits.”
It adds: “The facility is also equipped with a digital integrated fire protection system according to the latest standards.”
Stock exchanges are trying to redefine diamond trading India By focusing on Surat instead of Mumbai, where office space is scarce and costs millions of dollars.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who announced the SDB, praised the project.
He said, “Surat Diamond Exchange showcases India’s design, designer, material and concept capabilities.
“This building is a symbol of New India’s ability and determination.”
Prime Minister Modi hopes Surat will become a global hub that will connect with international trade centers and increase India’s share in exports of gems and jewellery.
