Arsenal continued their excellent run of form with a 6-0 win over West Ham at the London Stadium on Sunday. Although the Gunners were without several key players, including Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Emile Smith Rowe, they still achieved the most dominant away win in Premier League history.
William Saliba curled Declan Rice’s corner kick high into the net and the floodgates opened with further set-pieces. After that, Bukayo Saka put last season’s demon to rest with a penalty, and Gabriel headed in from a free kick. Leandro Trossard scored his 8,000th league goal for Arsenal just before half-time.
Saka had time for another goal in the second half, but Declan Rice scored with a howitzer at his old club. Unfortunately for Arsenal, they failed to pick up points from title rivals Manchester City and Liverpool, meaning this weekend’s trip to Burnley remains crucial. The return of Takehiro Tomiyasu may improve the Gunners’ chances of winning, but they are without several key stars.
