Only one team will progress to the next stage, after England narrowly secured qualification with big wins over Oman and Namibia, and Australia’s narrow win over Scotland.
They will join co-hosts the United States and the West Indies in the Super 8, with the US causing a major shock by beating Pakistan on home soil.
The tournament will next move to the Caribbean where two groups of four teams will compete for a place in the semi-finals.
Afghanistan and West Indies will meet early next week to decide top of the group after eliminating New Zealand, but both teams’ places in the Super 8 have already been decided, with Bangladesh expected to secure the final spot.
