Indian team returns home Live updates: Small event at Wankhede in Mumbai
Similar to what happened in 2007 when MS Dhoni’s Indian team won the inaugural T20 World Cup, Rohit Sharma’s Indian men’s cricket team will celebrate their T20 World Cup 2024 victory with an open bus parade, followed by a smaller event at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
The Indian championship team, who had been stranded in Barbados for the past three days due to Hurricane Beryl, flew to Delhi on a specially arranged Air India “long haul” charter flight late on Wednesday afternoon (local time).
After arriving in New Delhi early on Thursday, Rohit and his team will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi over breakfast.
The Indian team then boards a chartered flight to Mumbai. In 2007, after winning the inaugural T20 World Cup, Indian players celebrated their historic achievement with an open bus parade in Mumbai.
