The 2024 T20 Cricket World Cup will be co-hosted by the West Indies and will be held in the United States for the first time.
England go into the tournament as title holders, having last won the tournament just under two years ago, beating Pakistan in the final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
India are favourites to win the International Cricket Council tournament but have not won a major cricket tournament since the Champions Trophy in 2013 and have not won the T20 World Cup since their first triumph in 2007.
Meanwhile, Australia are on the verge of achieving an unprecedented feat in world cricket: If Mitchell Marsh’s side wins, they will win every major trophy in men’s and women’s cricket.
Here’s everything you need to know:
When is the T20 World Cup?
The T20 World Cup kicked off on June 2 in a tribute to history, with co-hosts USA taking on Canada in a re-enactment of the first-ever international cricket match between the two countries in 1844. 180 years on, the USA was chasing the record score for a T20 international match, winning by seven wickets.
The group stage of the tournament will see 20 teams competing in four groups of five teams each, followed by the Super 8 stage.
The Super 8 will be split into two groups of four teams, with two teams from each group progressing to the semi-finals.
Where?
The matches will be held at three venues in the United States: Florida (Central Broward Park), New York (Nassau County International Cricket Stadium) and Texas (Grande Prairie Stadium).
In the Caribbean, matches will be played in Antigua and Barbuda (Sir Vivian Richards Stadium), Barbados (Kensington Oval), Guyana (Providence Stadium), St Lucia (Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium), St Vincent and the Grenadines (Arnos Vale Playing Field) and Trinidad and Tobago (Brian Lara Cricket Academy).
How can I watch it?
In the UK, the tournament will be broadcast live on Sky Sports on its Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Cricket channels and will also be available to stream live on the SkyGo app.
In India, the match will be broadcast live on Star Sports Network and Disney+ Hotstar.
