To celebrate Stockport’s thriving cultural landscape, the Stockport Rising exhibition is being held at Stockport’s War Memorial Art Gallery.

The event coincides with the end of the Greater Manchester Town of Culture Year in Stockport and will run until Sunday 31st March.
Curated by renowned artist and former journalist Eric Jackson, the exhibition features five prominent Stockport-based professional artists: Lucy Burgess, Eric Jackson, Kate O’Brien, Jackie Wagg and David Chi Chandler’s work will be on display. Their art will be on display capturing the essence of Stockport and reflecting the town’s economic, cultural and physical rise through ambitious regeneration plans.
The Leader of Stockport Council, Councilor Mark Hunter, the Mayor and Mayoress of Stockport, Councilor Graham Greenhalgh and Mrs Carol Greenhalgh attended the opening of the exhibition on Friday 23 February, and the artist himself I had the opportunity to interact with him and discuss the inspiration behind his work.
