A sand-capped elephant in Nepal, a diver taking a deep breath in Egypt’s calm waters and a child celebrating Christmas are among the country and regional winners of this year’s Sony World Photo Awards.
The winning photos were announced by the World Photographic Organization on Tuesday and showcased the photographer’s “unique style and approach to the medium,” according to a press statement.
Sony World Photography Awards 2024 received over 395,000 images from numerous countries and regions, with themes such as nature, landscape, architecture, portraiture, and sports.
Organizers said the winning national and regional photos were taken by photographers based in 54 countries.
