The constant travel started to catch up with her and she missed out on the podium at the Spanish regatta, finishing fourth for the first time in her kiting career.
“I started racing internationally in 2015 and have won almost every regatta I’ve competed in. I couldn’t imagine not even finishing on the podium. It was a hard pill to swallow,” she wrote on her blog. Ta.
The Olympic test event in Marseille was just a few weeks away. If he is to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics, he will need to change direction and pursue another world-class performance.
“To be honest, I was pretty tired having been in France for such a long block. Even though I was used to a good routine, just being there and surviving the summer heat was exhausting. I lost it,” she wrote.
However, she was excited to start racing again and finished third. Although she was disappointed, she said she was happy to have achieved her goal of securing an Olympic berth.
This qualification was not enough to prevent burnout, which seemed inevitable due to the amount of work put in.
“Despite this nagging feeling of lacking motivation, I kept pushing, kept grinding… I thought I was only pushing myself in a good way – after all, I was I feel that I’ve always been told that if you work harder and spend more time than your competitors, you’ll automatically get better results. Then burnout hit and it hit me hard.
Feeling unsure about his sport, Moroz began consulting a sports psychologist before making the decision to take a break in August 2023. This was much needed to completely change her mindset and get her hooked on her sport again.
She returned to the water in January of the Olympic year.
“This year I have been thinking about training and can’t wait for the next training session. Even though I’ve been doing it for a year, I’m still learning something every day and I’m still improving every day, and I find it very rewarding,” she told Olympic.com in April. .
