Indian batsman Shubman Gill sent fans into a frenzy after he posted a heartwarming picture with India captain Rohit Sharma and his daughter Samaira on Instagram. Gill recently made headlines after fans claimed he had unfollowed Rohit on Instagram. However, this recent post seems to indirectly convey that the two players are still on good terms. Gill, who is India’s reserve player for the 2024 T20 World Cup, is reportedly set to leave the Indian team and return home after the group stage.
Rumours were also circulating on social media suggesting indiscipline as the reason for Gill’s withdrawal from the Indian team. However, a report in the Times of India confirmed that the rumours were false. Now, it seems that Gill has cleared all doubts in the minds of his fans.
Despite winning the Orange Cap in IPL 2023, Gill had a slow start in IPL 2024 and was not selected in India’s 15-man squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup. By the end of IPL 2024, Gill had scored 426 runs in just 12 matches.
India’s future prospects in the 2024 T20 World Cup
Team India has qualified for the Super 8 stage of the ongoing T20 World Cup. Rohit Sharma’s team will face Australia, Afghanistan, Bangladesh or Netherlands in the Super 8 group.
After completing all their group stage matches in the United States, India will return to the Caribbean to play the remaining matches of the T20 World Cup.
Virat Kohli will be hoping to get back into the scoring form after scoring just five runs in the three matches so far, while Rohit Sharma has also struggled to find form after scoring fifty in the first match against Ireland.
India will begin the Super 8 series against Afghanistan on June 20.
