A clever product has hit store shelves that can reduce your energy costs and keep you warm this winter.
When this extremely inexpensive gadget became available, shoppers were ecstatic, and some even said they “needed” it.
The wearable hot water bottle belt is available on Amazon for just £10, giving customers an even better product than the non-wearable version.
The product has garnered glowing reviews on Amazon, with one person writing:
Another person agreed, simply writing, “Easy to use. Doesn’t leak. Looks good. Fits well.”
The hot water bottle belt also became a hot topic after Facebook users commented on posts promoting the gadget.
One person commented: “That’s what I want,” while another added: “Oh yeah we both need this.”
This belt not only protects you from the cold, but also has a cute design with a koala’s face drawn on the string wrapped around your body to resemble your arm.
This isn’t the only winter hack that’s been in the news lately.
Earlier this month, we told you how the popular high street chain is selling winter essentials that cozy shoppers have described as ‘amazing’.
Thermal mattress covers are called “winter essentials” because of their incredible ability to keep you warm throughout the night.
The Silentnight Super Soft Thermal Mattress Cover is available at a bargain price on The Range and contains extra-thick teddy fleece fabric to give you the best night’s sleep on those chilly nights.
The online product description says, “Stay warm and cozy during the colder months with this Silentnight Super Soft Thermal Mattress Cover.
How to save on energy bills
Huge utility bills can sometimes feel unavoidable, but there are ways to ease the burden.
1. Switch to solar lights when outdoors
As sunny days approach, turning off outdoor lights and using solar lamps or lights can help reduce your energy bills.
2. Close the curtains at night
Close your curtains in the evening when temperatures drop to insulate your home and prevent heat from escaping.
This means less need to turn on the heating.
Be sure to open the blinds in the morning, especially on sunny days, as the glass can act like a greenhouse and heat the premises.
3. Cook using residual heat from the oven
The oven remains hot even after you turn it off. This means you can switch it off up to 10 minutes before your food is served and let the residual heat finish cooking.
But don’t take any risks with your food and make sure it’s piping hot and properly cooked through before eating.
4.Please do not open the oven during use.
Once you turn on the oven and add food, do not open the door. This lowers the temperature, causing appliances to use extra energy to bring it back up, and also making cooking take longer and cost more.
5. Spring cleaning
Limescale build-up can cost you as much as £468 a year in additional energy consumption.
However, you can use a mildly acidic cleaning agent to dissolve the buildup.
6. Block Draft
According to the Energy Saving Trust, preventing drafts from escaping heat can save you £30 a year on your energy bills.
Draft excluders cost less than £5 and are easily available on Amazon, especially those that attach to doors. Or you can buy one to match your decor and style. I found a cute 4 pound Sausage Dog Excluder at Hobbycraft.
