Scarlett Johansson confirmed to ComicBook.com that she will, in fact, star in the next “Jurassic World” movie, which will be directed by “Rogue One” and “Godzilla” director Gareth Edwards and written by David Koepp, who will return to the dinosaur franchise after writing the screenplays for Steven Spielberg’s “Jurassic Park” (1993) and “The Lost World: Jurassic Park” (1997).
“I’m a huge ‘Jurassic Park’ fan,” Johansson said. “It was one of the first movies I ever saw in the theater. I remember it so vividly. It was life-changing and mind-blowing. I can’t even begin to describe how excited I am.”
Johansson said of the fourth installment of “Jurassic World” that “the script is so amazing.” The film will tell a completely new story that is completely different from the first “Jurassic World” film starring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. All three “Jurassic World” films have grossed over $1 billion worldwide. Johansson will star in the new film, co-starring with Jonathan Bailey, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Mahershala Ali, Rupert Friend, Luna Blaze, and David Iacono.
“David Koepp wrote the script, and he’s back to write for the first time in 30 years, and he’s so passionate about this,” Johansson said. “I’ve been trying to get involved in this series in some capacity for over 10 years. I’m like, ‘I don’t care if I die in the first five minutes! I don’t care if I get eaten by anything! I’ll do craft services!’ I’d do anything for this show. The fact that it’s come together in this way at this time is just incredible.”
Variety previously reported that “Jurassic World 4” will be shot in Thailand, as well as at studios in Malta and the U.K. Spielberg will executive produce the film through his Amblin Entertainment. “Jurassic Park” producer Frank Marshall will also return, along with fellow regular producer Patrick Crowley.
