The Kremlin said it would use “the entirety of its strategic arsenal” to fire nuclear missiles at London, Washington, Berlin and Kiev if forced to abandon Ukraine’s invaded areas.
Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, a close ally of President Vladimir Putin, has warned of “all-out war” if Russia is forced to return to the 1991 borders established at the time of the collapse of the Soviet Union.
Instead, Medvedev suggested Kiev and the West should be allowed to take possession of areas of Ukraine that Putin believes are part of Russia, the Mirror reported.
“An attempt to return Russia to its 1991 borders will only lead to one thing,” he said.
“We are going to use all of our strategic weapons to wage a world war against the Western powers.
“In Kiev, Berlin, London and Washington.”
He added that nuclear missiles would also hit “all the other beautiful historical sites that have long been included in the flight targets of our nuclear triad.”
He continued: “If our thousand-year-old country, our great Motherland, is on the verge of extinction and the sacrifices made by the Russian people over the centuries will be in vain, then we have the courage to do this. I wonder?
“The answer is clear.”
Medvedev, deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council, which administers the war, warned that it was better to return everything to Russia “before it is too late.”
Otherwise, he said, Russia “will return on its own with the greatest loss to the enemy.”
He also criticized the “cheeky Anglo-American adoptees” who oppose Putin.
Last July, Medvedev warned of a “global nuclear conflagration” if Kiev forces and NATO occupied Russian land.
