Rob Lowe has a lot to look forward to in the new decade. And as someone known for maintaining a toned physique over the years, 9-1-1: Lone Star Actors usually have no problem staying healthy.
But as she approaches her 60th birthday next month, Lowe tells PEOPLE she really wants to focus on improving her eating habits to accommodate her active lifestyle. He admits that developing a sweet tooth takes away his willpower, and learned in his 30s that he “couldn’t eat like I did in school anymore.”
At the time, Lowe turned to Atkins for low-calorie snacks, which is why he recently partnered with the company and called it an “organic” partnership.
“I have a lot of willpower until the moment I have no willpower at all,” he tells People with a laugh. “So, on nights when my sweet tooth goes crazy, I make sure to have chocolate peanut butter cups or something like that. For me, they’re just as good as the original version, which is loaded with sugar. So, my willpower… We need to be prepared in case something jumps out the window.”

Lowe said that since appetite tends to be his weakness, changing his diet will likely involve moderation rather than cutting out his favorite foods.
“As I get older, I try to be more disciplined now, because as you get older you have to be more careful about what you eat than when you were younger,” he says. “So I tried to cut out sugar completely as a New Year’s resolution. And now that I don’t think that’s sustainable for me, how do I actually monitor my sugar intake? ”
Although she hopes to improve her eating habits, Lowe says she has never struggled to stay on top of her fitness, boasting that she is “in better shape than I’ve ever felt.”

“I can’t wait to train and do something physical,” he says. “I have very close friends and family, but they have to be dragged into doing something physical…that would be very difficult to overcome.”
“I’m blessed to really enjoy physical exercise and adventure,” he added. “So when I’m not on set, I structure my day based on what activities I do. It could be a paddle in the ocean, a hike, a sprint on the track, pickleball, or tennis. I’m fine with anything.
Lowe says it’s just her lifestyle and that she “maintains 75 to 80 percent of her best health” so that if she needs to get in shape for a movie or TV show, she doesn’t have to put in too much effort. I will explain that I am trying to do so.
What are your goals in your 60s? Stay active without getting injured. Lowe said he is trying to find a balance between “longevity and consistency” and “staying injury-free and pushing myself harder than ever.”
“The challenge for me is that a day off means a day off, but I want to keep doing something.” west wing says the actor. I have to push myself to say, “No, no, this is a day where it’s okay to sit on the couch and watch football.” I love a good sauna, I love soaking in cold water, and I used to I started to realize the value of just taking long walks, which I thought was a waste of time, and now I have changed my way of thinking.”
“I feel better than I’ve ever felt before. I think it’s because I’m more conscious of self-care. I’m stronger than I’ve ever been,” he tells PEOPLE as he turns 60. He said he was excited about it. And just like with any milestone, the closer you get, the better you feel. ”
