- Their findings suggest that richer sound is the best bet for new technology
Whether it’s your flagship smartphone or the latest TV, it can be difficult to know which stores to go to when looking for a new gadget.
But help is on the way. We’ve revealed the best and worst places to buy gadgets in the UK.
The consumer group surveyed thousands of UK shoppers to find the most trusted retailers.
Their findings suggest that Richer Sounds is the best choice for new technology, followed by Apple, John Lewis and Dell.
In contrast, The Range was found to be the worst tech store, with only 68% of customers saying they were satisfied.
In research, which one? We surveyed 4,863 Britons about their experiences buying new technology and home appliances in the UK.
Participants were asked about their overall experience as well as the quality of products available, customer service, range of products available, aftercare services, and value for money.
After analyzing their responses, we found that Richer Sounds was the best technology store with an impressive average customer score of 95%.
One shopper asked, “Which one?” Some said Richer Sounds’ “knowledge and customer service is second to none,” while others said they “offer quality products at affordable prices.”
This was followed by Apple (87%), John Lewis (86%) and Dell (83%).
At the other end of the spectrum, The Range and Sainsbury’s were named the worst places to buy technology products, with both having an average customer score of just 68 per cent.
These were closely followed by Tesco (69%), Asda/George (69%) and Currys (71%).
On the other hand, Euronics was found to be number one in the consumer electronics category with a customer score of 88%.
One shopper said in an interview with Which? that Euronics has “very competitive prices,” adding that he experienced “great service.”
Marks Electrical (86%), John Lewis (85%) and Lakeland (84%) closely followed.
In contrast, B&M (66%), Home Bargains (67%) and B&Q (68%) were named as the worst stores to buy home appliances.
Black Friday and Christmas are both approaching, but Which? is urging shoppers to take the time to find out what they want to buy and where the best place to buy it is.
“Shoppers may be looking to get their hands on a new laptop or shiny kitchen appliance quickly, but some retailers are simply not up to the mark when it comes to quality and customer service. Okay,” said Ele Clark, retail editor at Which?
“Our research shows that shoppers who need help with big-ticket purchases are best served by specialty retailers, where customer care and technical expertise are a priority.”
