New retailer looks to revamp Canada’s luxury offering before setting eyes on the U.S.
Rennaï is scheduled to open in August 2024 in Montreal’s upcoming Royal Mount development of retail, office and hospitality space, with brands such as Hermès, Diptyque, Le Labo and Dermalogica already on board.
It is backed by L. Catterton and Carbonleo, who want to turn the 36,000-square-foot beauty and wellness space into an experiential retail-focused space.
Beyond product offerings, services include traditional aesthetics, dermatology, nutrition, fragrance zones, and retreat areas where guests can extend their time by enjoying self-care spaces.
“[The investors] It turns out that what today’s consumers really want is more than just products. They want experiences that add value to their day,” said Rennai President Christopher Novak. “What we do is create a space for people to take a break from their busy lives and truly reconnect with themselves through the lens of beauty and self-care.”
He continued that more prestige partners will be announced leading up to the grand opening.
“Exclusive, never-before-seen experiences are the core foundation that makes Renai unique and timely,” Novak said. “We continue to announce partners for launch that embody our brand ethos and promise, providing a complete one-stop experience for our customers both on-site and through our complimentary virtual concierge experience.”
Homegrown brands such as Watier Cosmetics, Apprenti Ôr’ganik, JB Skin Sävvi, Selv, Ruby Brown, Landish and Camellia Sinensis Tea House are also important.
Located in midtown Montreal, Renai will join Royal Mount’s 170 retail tenants (including luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton, Tiffany & Co., and Gucci) and more than 60 restaurants, offices, hotels, and public green spaces.
Companies already in Canada’s luxury market include Sephora, several department stores, and Shoppers Drug Mart. The latter has been gaining market share in the prestige beauty sector over the years, but it has increased even further since 2019 when Gwennael Varnier was appointed vice president of prestige beauty.
But Novak, who previously worked at Canadian luxury retailer Holt Renfrew, isn’t just looking at Canada.
“We are scheduled to open in Royal Mount this August and have plans for nine stores. We are looking at major cities in Canada and the United States to open future locations,” he said. Told.
