The Rabbit R1, a new handheld “AI” gadget, was announced on January 12th of this year, exciting some people on the internet (and confusing others). I pre-ordered it the moment I heard about it. why? My career in the software industry began 50 years before his, teaching him COBOL programming for mainframe computers. And, way back in 1983, Venture was his second from Capital to join a start-up company that opened an office in Silicon Valley. I’m a veteran and have to keep an eye on industry trends to stay competitive.
Currently, I am an angel investor in Equal Care Co-op, a technology start-up with ambitions to transform social care by using technology platforms to enable care to be delivered without bureaucracy. He is also the chairman. I own his iPhone, iPad, and MacBook Pro. I use these all the time, but they are too complicated and confusing. Every app is a little different, which makes using the app a nightmare sometimes. I’m going crazy just trying to find what I need.

What I like about Perplexity Pro so far is that you can ask a question in plain language, use the best large-scale language model to find the answer, and get a link to where the answer was found. Because it is, and it is very fast. Rabbit R1 uses this to better understand what the user is requesting.
An annual license for Perplexity Pro typically costs £200, so you’re already making the investment. Once I get my hands on the Rabbit R1, I’ll let you know how I get on with it. You won’t know if it’s an iPhone killer or a gimmicky gadget until you get your hands on it and try it out. I’m looking forward to finding out.
