PS5 players shout ‘genius’ after discovering a gadget they already own solves battery drain issues

However, the lifespan of the built-in battery decreases over time, meaning it can hold power for much less time and must be charged more regularly.

Sony is rumored to launch a new controller with a significant battery enhancement, with 12 hours of battery life.

Until that happens, you’ll continue to use your current devices.

Fortunately, there are some tricks that can help if your battery is draining quickly.

The most obvious one, of course, is to connect your PS5 controller to the console so that power is constantly flowing.

However, the cable is not long enough for everyone.

Looking for a solution, one Reddit user wrote: “If your PS5 controller dies, you can literally stop the game and charge it, or you can even sit near the PS5 and charge it while playing.

“Does anyone know any tips or tricks to extend battery life?”

Fellow gamers have shared a simple trick using a power bank that allows them to continue using their controllers without the constraints of short cables connected to the PS5.

The original poster replied: “Great, that’s what I’m going to do now.”

Some people warn that not all power banks will work, and that incorrect voltage can further damage the controller’s battery.

So be sure to make sure they match.

“Make sure you get the right charger,” one person replied.

“Don’t use something called lightning charging or something like that because you can damage the battery. I think you need something like 5 volts. Probably just a basic charger, but look into it. This idea is It’s genius (lol).”
