Brentford’s recent match against Manchester City was dedicated to raising awareness of heart health through a partnership with Heart of West London.
Heart of West London brings together the world’s leading heart health organizations and charities to amplify our voices and change the game around heart health.
The match highlighted the club’s work in partnership with Brentford FC Community Sports Trust, Resuscitation Council, Young People’s Cardiac Risk, Royal Brompton Hospital and Harefield Hospital Charity and AKADay.
This partnership harnesses the power of sport and our collective voice to raise awareness of heart health in our communities and beyond.
Tribute to Suzanne Rowan
Suzanne Rowan, partner of late Brentford technical director Robert Rowan, was awarded the Heart of West London award on Monday. Robert Rowan died in 2018 after suffering a fatal cardiomyopathy episode.
The award recognizes Robert’s tireless work advocating for heart health in memory, raising funds for and awareness of heart screening for young people in West London and beyond.
The club would like to thank Suzanne for being part of the Heart of West London.
CPQR code shirt
Brentford’s players once again wore special shirts with the Resuscitation Council’s unique CPQR code written on the front.
We do this to encourage our thousands of fans watching around the world to scan this video and take 2 minutes to learn CPR, a potentially life-saving technique.
These limited edition autographed shirts will be up for auction in our online shop starting Wednesday, February 14th.
All proceeds from the auction will go towards funding ground-breaking heart research carried out by the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospital Charity.
Welcome to Bromlians FC
Brentford players weren’t the only players wearing CPQR codes on Monday night.
We welcomed Bromlians FC’s under 12 team, whose flags were waving before kick-off.
The team adopted the CPQR code on their kits after watching Brentford FC players last season.
We want to encourage as many teams as possible to adopt CPQR codes and spread the message in their communities.
Book a free heart test
Following the success of previous events, Heart Risk in Young People has organized a weekend heart test for Brentford fans in memory of Robert Rowan.
Fans aged 14-35 can book free screenings on Saturday March 9th and Sunday March 10th at the Community Stadium Hub, located next to Gtech Community Stadium.
Cardiac screening includes an electrocardiogram (ECG). An electrocardiogram (ECG) is a simple, non-invasive, and painless test that takes only a few minutes to complete and is performed by a qualified cardiac physiologist. We encourage as many people as possible to take up this offer as this will help save lives.
