Gerwyn Price has been ruled out of the 2024 BetVictor World Cup of Darts and will be replaced by Jim Williams in the Wales team for this weekend’s event.
Price partnered Jonny Clayton to win his second World Cup title last summer and was aiming for a third in the doubles tournament in Frankfurt.
However, the world number four was ruled out of the tournament due to health issues.
“It’s a great shame I won’t be playing in the World Cup. It’s always fun to play for Wales.” Price said.
“Good luck to Jonny and Jim Williams this weekend and hope they can bring home the title again!”
Price will be replaced by Welsh player Williams, the next highest on the PDC Merit Rankings and who will make her World Cup debut this weekend.
Under PDC rules, the group stage draw for the World Cup of Darts has been decided, meaning Wales will retain their second seed and enter the competition in the second round on Saturday at the Eisporthalle.
