President Donald Trump has claimed that the United States is on the brink of World War III after three American soldiers were killed in a drone attack in Jordan.
The presidential candidate blamed Saturday night’s attack, which left 34 people injured, on the “weakness” of the current president and his rival for the White House in November, Joe Biden.
Biden said the attack was carried out by “an Iranian-backed extremist group.”
Britain has also condemned drone strikes in the context of Israel’s war with Iran-backed Hamas, as well as attacks by the United States and Britain against Yemen’s Houthis, another Iranian proxy group.
“This brazen attack on America is yet another horrific and tragic result of Joe Biden’s weakness and capitulation,” Trump said.
“Three years ago, Iran was weak, bankrupt, and completely under control. Thanks to my maximum pressure policy, the Iranian regime could barely scrape together $2 to fund its terrorist proxies.”
He added: “If I had been president, this attack would never have happened, it would never have even had a chance. Just like the Iran-backed Hamas attack on Israel never happened, the Ukraine war never happened. It wouldn’t have been, and we’re about to be,” he added. Peace all over the world.
“Rather, we are on the brink of World War III.”

The attack reportedly targeted soldiers sleeping in tents in the Middle East.
The attack marked the first death of a U.S. military personnel since conflict erupted anew in the region following Hamas’ attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.
“While we are still gathering the facts of this attack, we know it was carried out by an Iranian-backed extremist group operating in Syria and Iraq,” President Biden said in a statement.
“We will continue their commitment to fight terrorism,” Biden continued.
“And there is no question: We will hold all those responsible accountable when and in the manner we choose.”
British Foreign Secretary David Cameron said: “We strongly condemn attacks on US forces by Iranian-aligned militias. We continue to call on Iran to reduce tensions in the region.”
“Our thoughts are with the U.S. military personnel who lost their lives, all those who were injured, and their families.”
The military personnel’s identities will not be released for 24 hours until their families are notified, the U.S. military said.
Jordan is used as a US base in the region and typically hosts 3,000 troops.
U.S. forces have come under fire in Iraq and Syria since the war in Gaza began, but this attack was the first to take place outside the troubled and troubled country.
During a visit to Columbia, South Carolina on Sunday, Biden was briefed by Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, and National Security Adviser John Finer.
Syria remains in the midst of a civil war and has been a staging area for the country’s Iranian-backed forces, including the Lebanese militia Hezbollah.
Several Iranian-backed Shiite militias also operate in Iraq.
Jordan, a staunch ally of the West and a key force overseeing Jerusalem’s holy sites, is suspected of launching airstrikes in Syria to disrupt drug smugglers, including the one that killed nine people earlier this month. There is.
