An emergency alert has been issued for shoppers in Ireland after popular beauty products were recalled over fears of ‘electric shock’.
Cortext Beauty Hair Curler has been recalled from TJX Ireland Unlimited Company, also known as TK Maxx and Homesense.
The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission said the hair tool posed a risk of electric shock.
This is due to poor quality internal construction and insufficient insulation.

The model number is AT08.

The product code on the price sticker and receipt will be 066297, 066314, 066358, or 066331.
Unfortunately, the batch code and barcode of the recalled items are unknown.
The affected products were sold in stores from September to November 2023.
Customers with affected products are advised to immediately stop using them and return them to their TK Maxx or Homesense store for a full refund.

This comes after the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission announced that TK Maxx and Homesense would be recalling beverage warmers.
Brookstone Beverage Warmer was sold in stores nationwide.
There is a serious electric shock and fire risk due to insufficient insulation.
This can activate metal parts.
There are also concerns about the possibility of a fire.
Approximately 960 affected products were sold in stores in the Republic of Ireland between November and December.
The affected model number is DX-8012.
The code on the product or receipt will be 439913, 439930, 439943, or 439949.
Batch number and barcode are unknown.
Customers are asked to immediately stop using the product and return it to a TK Maxx or Homesense store for a full refund.

BlendJet Ltd is also issuing a recall for the BlendJet 2 portable blender.
This was after it became clear that there was a risk of fire or injury.
The battery inside the product may overheat during charging and cause a fire.
Also, in certain situations of intensive use, blender blades can break off and release fragments, which poses a risk of internal digestive tract lacerations if swallowed.
The brand is Blendjet. Affected units have serial numbers 5201000000 through 5542999999.
BlendJet 2s with serial numbers starting with 5543 or later are not subject to this recall as they already have an updated base.

There are approximately 11,877 affected products in the Republic of Ireland.
This product was sold from October 2020 to November 2023.
