Q: Did you play sports when you were younger?
A: When I was younger, I had a passion for sports and fitness. I was particularly interested in track and field and had a natural talent for sprinting.
However, at one point I experienced some stereotypes (due to my large size) and was encouraged to try shot put instead. Although it wasn’t the path I originally envisioned, it taught me valuable lessons about determination and not letting fixed ideas define your abilities.
When did you start taking fitness more seriously as you got older?
It wasn’t until I was an adult that I started getting serious about fitness in a moment of awakening. I remember being unable to wear pants on a Channel 5 show. That’s when I told myself I needed to lose weight.
That experience motivated me to prioritize my health and fitness, and ultimately embarked on a journey dedicated to fitness to achieve my goals and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Is there pressure to look good when you’re in the entertainment industry?
In the entertainment industry, there is often a great deal of emphasis on appearance and maintaining a certain shape or size. When I first entered the scene, I experienced firsthand the pressure to look a certain way. I was also disappointed because another influencer made fun of me because of my weight and height.
However, this experience taught me the importance of self-confidence and embracing my individuality, which ultimately made me more resilient in the face of such pressure. It’s important to remember that everyone’s journey in the entertainment industry is unique, and self-acceptance is a powerful tool to overcome those challenges.
Have you ever experienced discrimination?
Yes, I have faced discrimination within the entertainment industry for not conforming to certain beauty standards. There have been times when my appearance has not matched industry expectations, which has led to challenges and prejudice.
However, I strongly believe in promoting diversity and inclusion in the industry, and these experiences have motivated me to work towards positive change and promote a more accepting and inclusive environment for everyone. It just became.
What are some of the challenges of working in the entertainment industry?
Being in the entertainment industry comes with many challenges, but one of the most important is the struggle to maintain authenticity and defend your beliefs in a sometimes superficial environment.
Overcoming these challenges requires a constant effort to stay true to yourself and fight for what you believe in, even if it’s not easy. It’s about continually advocating for positive change and collaborating with like-minded people to create a more inclusive and inclusive industry where authenticity and principles are respected.
Did you experience anything that made you feel insecure about yourself when you were younger?
As a young person, I was fortunate to grow up in an environment where judgment was minimized and the primary focus was on education and achieving personal goals. During that time, I didn’t experience any major events that made me feel insecure.
My determination to earn the role of the main character in the drama club and excel in my studies instilled in me a strong work ethic and drive. This experience taught me the value of hard work and dedication. It has shaped my outlook on life and success as I get older.
When was the last time you felt least confident?
When I entered the National Service (NS), I experienced a significant drop in confidence. There, getting in shape was an important aspect of my mission. At first, I wasn’t ready and didn’t have confidence in my physical ability. However, I used this challenge as a springboard for self-improvement.
I dedicated my two years in NS to focusing on the movement and service to the nation. Through consistent effort, discipline, and peer support, I gradually built up my physical confidence and, in turn, my overall self-esteem. This experience taught me that with determination and dedication, you can overcome self-doubt and achieve your goals.
Have you ever struggled with your body?
I always have moments where I struggle with my body, and that feeling still persists from time to time. It’s not uncommon to have moments of self-doubt or anxiety.
However, I have learned the importance of living in the moment and prioritizing my health over unrealistic body standards. Tell yourself that being healthy and happy now is more valuable than constantly chasing an ideal body image. This shift in mindset has been a source of empowerment and self-acceptance in my journey.
Are you satisfied with your body now?
I’m happy with my body now. Because I have learned to accept my body for what it is, with all its uniqueness and imperfections. I learned to focus on being healthy and feeling good in my own skin instead of holding myself to unattainable standards.
This shift in perspective has helped me realize that true beauty and confidence comes from self-acceptance and self-care, allowing me to feel content and fulfilled in the present moment.
Do you have any comments about your body?
Luckily, there aren’t many comments about my body so far. However, even if I encounter such comments, I simply ignore them and prioritize living in the moment.
After all, I’ve come to understand that people’s opinions about my body shouldn’t define my self-worth. What really matters is how you feel about yourself and how you live your life. Because these are the things that are really important and contribute to my overall well-being.
