Lately, I’ve been obsessed with two events. One is the ITV drama ‘Mr. Bates v. Post Office” and the Grantham Rotary Club’s Swimmarathon. Paul Stokes of the Grantham Independent writes:
The ITV drama has horrified the nation and sparked outrage. Like many others, I am happy that the victims of the Post Office Horizon incident will be acquitted and compensated, and this drama has made that even more so.
Rotary Club Swimmarathon has reached £1 million in charitable donations in Grantham Meres since its inception, thanks to the incredible efforts of the local community and volunteers.
Both of the above are great examples of the power of leisure, art and culture. As Cabinet Secretary for Leisure and Culture, I am very proud that the council has active assets such as Guildhall Arts Center and Grantham Melles Leisure Centre. Local authorities are one of the largest single investors in arts and leisure, and the current government at SKDC is determined to maximize the potential of these facilities.
