Britain’s Charlotte Henshaw won gold in the women’s KL2 at the Paracanoe World Championships in Szeged, Hungary on Saturday, clinching her 10th world title.
Henshaw, who won the VL3 world title on Friday, won with a time of 48.79 seconds.
Hungary’s Katalin Varga took second place with 50.89 points, and Germany’s Anja Adler took third place with 52.64 points.
The 37-year-old switched to para canoeing in 2017 after previously competing as a para swimmer.
“When I joined paracanoeing, I never thought I would win 10 gold medals at the world championships,” she said.
“I knew I was going to be on a competitive team, so even though I come from a para-sport background, it wasn’t a given that I was going to be on a team.”
Rio 2016 Paralympic winner Emma Wiggs was due to compete in the KL2 final alongside Henshaw, but had to withdraw from the race for medical reasons.
Elsewhere at the World Championships, Britain’s Laura Sugar defended her KL3 title while compatriot Hope Gordon took silver.
Meanwhile, Ed Clifton won the men’s VL2 B final, giving the paracanoe team a full berth of nine boats to qualify for the 2024 Paris Games.
Finally, at the Canoe Sprint World Cup, also held in Szeged, Britain’s Emily Lewis won bronze in the women’s K1 200m.
