During my first year of college in 2022, I was hesitant to join the legion of “Bridgerton” fans. Season 2 of Bridgerton just came out and my love for the enemies-to-lovers plotline has me hooked. All I could do was watch. Honestly, this first season was tough to get through. I loved Daphne and Simon themselves, but their relationship was difficult to watch and solving their problems seemed impossible. So, in the end, Daphne’s problem was that Simon never finished inside her, which ended up with her assaulting him and forcing him to impregnate her. But I endured knowing there would be witty banter and longing glances in the next season. And in the end, did I like it?
Kate and Anthony saved the day. Their love story and dynamic was so raw and intriguing that I was sitting on the edge of my seat. It took him nearly a month to finish season 1 of Bridgerton, but he devoured season 1 of Anthony and Kate in less than two days. I was fascinated by the story and setting of the Bridgerton brothers, and when Queen Charlotte was released last year, I became even more obsessed with it. I have to admit that I shed a few tears listening to her and George’s story. Even though I’m a Benedictine girl myself, I was overjoyed when I found out that Penelope and Colin’s season was next.
And when the opportunity came to go see a sneak peek of Season 3, I jumped at the chance.
On Valentine’s Day morning, I rolled out of bed, hopped on the livestream, and watched “Bridgerton” Season 3 for the first time. I only saw him for two minutes and then it was shared to the vast world of social media, but let me tell you, I’m incredibly excited.
The special ‘Bridgerton’ event will feature Shonda Rhimes, the genius behind shows like Shondaland, ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and ‘Scandal,’ brand new showrunner Jess Brownell, and the original ‘Bridgerton.’ It all started with the author, Julia Quinn.
“This time, we know the people who are in love. We’re already rooting for them,” Rhimes, the show’s executive producer, said when asked about her favorite part of the new season. He answered:
“Bridgerton” introduces new couples every season. And while we’ve been following the Bridgerton brothers since Season 1, Penelope Featherington has also been with us from the beginning, unlike previous seasons where they were external love interests. We’ve seen her and Colin’s friendship develop, and it’s finally time for their relationship to take it to the next level. And, of course, there’s the infamous horse-drawn carriage scene.
“We’re going to see these characters come into power this year,” Brownell replied. “Many people who are in unrequited love or who feel like losers will start to feel noticed.”
Before long, a wonderful cast appeared on the screen. Many of the live viewers were disappointed that Regé-Jean Page and Simon were not present. Phoebe Dynevor, Daphne. Jonathan Bailey, Anthony. Simone Ashley and Kate too. But remember, fans, this is “Porin” season. And it’s time for “Porin” to shine.
Nicola Coughlan, who plays Penelope, said: “They’re aesthetically radiant, but deep down they’re still big nerds.”
When asked if Penelope has any other suitors this season, the video cuts to new character Lord Devling. Luke Newton, who plays Colin Bridgerton, responded, “My biggest threat.”
And of course, Bridgerton wouldn’t be Bridgerton without its many supporting characters and subplots. The cast emphasized how important Penelope and Eloise’s relationship is this season. In case you forgot, Eloise and Penelope got into a huge fight at the end of season two. Because Eloise has learned that Penelope is the elusive Lady Whistledown of gossip. Rhimes called their relationship “the second love story of the season.”

I miss the days when shows had a new season every nine months and each season had 18-22 episodes. It’s certainly frustrating, especially in a blockbuster movie like “Bridgerton.” Fans are constantly eating up the little content we have, rewatching old episodes and desperately trying to find something new to watch. But still, we’ll be waiting on the edge of our seats for all eight episodes for ages. No one is holding their breath.
Believe please. I’m super excited for season 3 and plan on sitting down to watch it soon. There are few characters I identify with more than Penelope. Although Colin definitely has a job to do, I have to admit that I have a soft spot for him. But is ‘Bridgerton’ Season 3 worth the wait? Honestly, as it stands, the answer is no.
Season 2 came out during my first year here at Pitt, and now season 3 is coming out right before I start my senior year. I’m excited, but no TV show is worth the wait this much. There are eight of his “Bridgerton” books, but this does not include any spin-offs or novels written by Quinn. By the time they finally get to their youngest son, Gregory, we’ll probably all have moved on to the next decade of our lives. Do those of us in our 30s still care about Bridgerton, more than a decade after the first season aired?
If Season 3 is going to be worth that much, Shondaland should really go for it. All the characters have to be impeccable, the sets have to be great, and the story has to win a Pulitzer Prize for it to truly feel like it’s worth waiting more than two years for a new season.
However, with that said, I think season 3 can very well be considered the show’s best. The cast seems to be overjoyed with the finished product, and for fans, this is the first time they’ve seen their fully fleshed-out relationships span multiple seasons. I really hope season 3 is great. I’m by no means preying on Season 3’s downfall. But will season 3 be worth the years of waiting? We’ll probably find out in May. Or June. Because of course Netflix is splitting it into two parts.
