One of the world’s best travel experiences is in London

It’s official – the world’s best travel experiences have been announced and London’s world-famous events have made the list.

The British capital attracts around 30 million tourists each year, many of whom flock to experience the city’s most famous attractions, from Big Ben to Buckingham Palace.

And with tourism increasingly being shaped by travel experiences rather than just attractions, the famous Chelsea Flower Show ranks as one of the best shows to explore for tourists and locals alike.

The RHS Chelsea Flower Show, officially known as the Great Spring Show, takes place over five days in May at Chelsea Royal Infirmary in west London.

Frequently visited by members of the Royal Family, it has been held in Chelsea since 1912, but the first event was held in Kensington in 1862.

The show has been named the world’s fifth most popular “must-see” travel experience, receiving approximately 613,530 Google searches each year.

However, the top three spots in the overall ranking were occupied by the United States, Italy, and Brazil.

Topping the list compiled by Kuoni is Manhattanhenge in New York City, with a total of 1,305,760 global searches over the year.

The event, also known as the Manhattan summer solstice, occurs twice a year when either the sunset or the sunrise aligns with the east-west streets of the city’s street system.

It was abolished in 1797, but was revived in 1979, and is now visited by approximately 3 million people a year.

In the same spirit, Rio’s Carnival in Brazil in February also took third place. The world’s largest carnival, his five-day event draws 2 million people to the streets of Brazil’s largest city each day for extravagant parties and parades.
