Governor Lucky Aedatiwa of Ondo State has said he will soon procure vehicles and tools for security agencies in the state to enhance security of lives and property as part of efforts to enhance security of lives and property in the state. Ta.
Mr. Aedatiwa disclosed this on Tuesday in Akure, the Ondo State capital, after a meeting with the Deputy Inspector General of Police, the Commissioner of Police, the Amotekun State Commandant and other heads of security agencies in the state.
Mr. Ayedatiwa emphasized the need to strengthen the country’s security architecture and highlighted efforts to support security agencies with the necessary tools and resources.
He said the purchase of the vehicles was part of an outline plan to address the pressing issue of mobility, which is a significant challenge hindering effective policing.
He said: “We will support security agencies by providing them with tools and, more importantly, more operational vehicles to enable them to move. “It will enable us to navigate diverse terrain and respond quickly to security threats.”
The governor last month highlighted the distribution of vehicles to permanent secretaries with the aim of facilitating their movement and operational efficiency.
The Governor reiterated his continued commitment to promoting the well-being of the population by taking steps to alleviate the impact of economic challenges.
Mitigation measures to reduce the impact of the end of fuel subsidies and the provision of shuttle buses to civil servants and students demonstrate the government’s dedication to supporting its citizens.
Meanwhile, to demonstrate his commitment to supporting the legislative arm of the state government, the governor gifted an official vehicle to the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Rt. My lord. Mr. Olamide Oladiji, Vice-Chairman, Rt. Abayomi Akinruntan.
It may be recalled that last year, members of the House of Representatives were presented with vehicles, but the vehicles of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker were not included.
Mr. Ayedatiwa emphasized the importance of cooperation between stakeholders and state actors for the overall development of the country.
Speaker Oladiji commended the governor for keeping his word, saying the vehicle would strengthen legislative accountability and foster stronger ties between the assembly and other branches of government.
Deputy Governor, Chief Olaide Adelami, Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Olaide Adelami; Mr. Tayo Oluwatui and the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Prince Segun Omojuwa were also present at the event.
