Redmond, Washington – The City of Redmond is accepting applications for one vacant seat on the Arts and Culture Commission. Current vacancies on this Commission are open to individuals who reside or work within the City of Redmond in zip code 98052 or to unincorporated King County in zip code 98053.
The Arts and Culture Commission transforms life in Redmond by advising staff and City Council on public programs that build community, celebrate diversity, and enhance Redmond’s vitality and identity through the performing, visual, and participatory arts. We continue to improve quality. The commission’s current work plan includes advising staff and the City Council on growing the arts in Redmond through the Poet Laureate Program, the Cultural Arts Grants Program, the Downtown Redmond Art Walk, and more. The commission will also make recommendations for several upcoming public art projects in Redmond.
Arts and Culture Committee meetings are mandatory for all members. Meetings will be held in person at Redmond City Hall, but you will also have the option to join virtually via Microsoft Teams on the second Tuesday of each month from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. In addition to monthly meetings, members serve on special committees and attend regional meetings. And an event. They promote community involvement around Parks and Recreation Department projects and programs and occasionally attend City Council and other committee meetings. The committee can also work with the broader community and represent the interests of community members to the City Council. All board and committee members are volunteers and serve three-year terms.
Learn more about commissions or apply by visiting redmond.gov/Commissions. There is no deadline, but interested parties are encouraged to apply by 5pm on Friday, February 23, 2024.
