Fashion month is here and models are preparing to hit the catwalks in New York, London, Milan and Paris.
Designers are set to unveil their Fall/Winter 2024 collections, and we’re sure celebrities are gearing up to take a front row seat.
Fashion Week, which takes place between February and March, is always particularly interesting as it’s right in the middle of awards season. That means some of the amazing outfits you see on the runway are almost instantly featured on the red carpet.
Here’s what you can expect from Fashion Week’s ‘Big Four’…
new york
when? From February 9th to 14th.
Who will appear? After a hugely successful debut as creative director of Helmut Lang, Peter Do is once again starting his New York Fashion Week (NYFW) schedule.
There are several other names that have returned. Last season, Christian Cowan made headlines after Sam Smith’s performance in Paris and a frenzied show that featured a giant fur ball gliding down the runway, but now he’s back on home turf. I did. Coach is also back on the schedule, as is Thom Browne, current president of the Council of Fashion Designers of America, who will return home from his stint in Paris and close out the event with an unmistakably theatrical show.
You can also expect regular characters like Tommy Hilfiger, Prabal Gurung, Proenza Schouler, Michael Kors, and Brandon Maxwell to show off why New York is considered fashion month’s cool little brother .
Is there one show you can’t watch? Marc Jacobs just unveiled its latest collection in an unscheduled doll-inspired presentation celebrating 40 years in the industry.
London
when? From February 16th to 20th.
Who will appear? London Fashion Week (LFW) is celebrating its 40th anniversary, and this year promises to be a momentous season. In a big new move, LFW implemented a fur ban. As a result, you won’t see any fur on the runway.
There aren’t many surprises in the schedule, with familiar names returning such as Ahluwalia, David Koma, Emilia Wickstead, Erdem, JW Anderson, Molly Goddard, Richard Quinn and Simone Rocha.
Burberry remains one of the highlights of the LFW calendar, with designer Daniel Lee presenting his third collection this season. The heritage brand is set to move on with its high-profile acquisition of Harrods, which will transform the department store into the brand’s signature color ‘night blue’ and invite the likes of Naomi Campbell and Mary Berry to pop. milan
when? From February 20th to 26th.
Who will appear? All eyes will be on Sabato de Sarno, who will present Gucci’s second women’s collection. His debut album was a divisive one, but this one will help further define his vision for the house.
Several debuts are scheduled for Milan Fashion Week (MFW), including Adrian Appiolaza’s first show with Moschino. The job will be an emotional one, as Davide Rennes was slated to replace Jeremy Scott, but she died just 10 days after taking over.
Like Paris, Milan tends to be the province of established, prestigious fashion houses rather than the up-and-coming brands found in New York or London. But for the past few seasons, Dolce & Gabbana has helped introduce new voices to its Milan shows. And this time, London-based designer Feben will be showing off his latest collection.
Prada, Tom Ford, Versace, Bottega Veneta and more complete the star-studded MFW.
Paris
when? From February 26th to March 5th.
Who will appear? Louis Vuitton is back for the closing slot of Paris Fashion Week (PFW), and it’s expected to be a big event as creative director Nicolas Ghesquière celebrates 10 years with the brand.
Elsewhere, all eyes will be on Irish designer Sean McGill taking over the reins at Alexander McQueen, while Chemena Kamali is also set to make her Chloé debut.
Lacoste will return to the calendar for the first time since 2021, joining fashion giants such as Victoria Beckham, Schiaparelli, Balmain, Givenchy, Vivienne Westwood, Stella McCartney, Chanel and Dior.
