Officials of the National Narcotics Law Enforcement Agency arrested Udechukwu Ekene Theophilus, a Brazilian returnee, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. Udechukwu ingested 60 rolls of cocaine, totaling 1.279 kilograms, on a flight from Sao Paulo, Brazil.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Femi Baba Femi Media Advocacy Director-General and posted on the agency’s website on Sunday.
The statement said: “Officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, arrested a Brazilian returnee, Udechukwu Ekene Theophilas, at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA Ikeja Lagos, for allegedly ingesting 60 packets of cocaine.” Ta.
“The suspect arrested during immigration screening of passengers on an Ethiopian Airlines flight from São Paulo, Brazil, via Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, at the D Arrivals Hall of Lagos Airport on Sunday, January 21, 2024, initially refused to undergo a body scan. and his health deteriorated,” he said, expressing concern that he was desperately trying to avoid arrest.
“However, when other options were offered, he accepted to be subjected to excretory observation and shortly after being escorted to the NDLEA observation station he excreted the first set of cocaine pellets and then totaled the class A drug. I defecated 60 times. After 5 defecations, my weight was 1.279 kg.”
According to NDLEA, Udechukwu claimed in a statement that he had ingested the shipment in Brazil and was scheduled to eject it all at the Addis Ababa airport, but was only able to eject 15 pellets and a connecting flight to Nigeria was called. He said he had previously handed over the pellets to another member of the syndicate.
Additionally, NDLEA personnel recovered 12 cartons of tramadol weighing 385.40 kg from an overstayed cargo at the SAHCO import warehouse at the Lagos Airport. The tramadol arrived in two separate KLM Royal Dutch Airlines flights from Karachi, Pakistan, between July 27 and August 1, 2023.
In separate operations, the NDLEA seized 822 kg of Cannabis Sativa in Yobe, arrested suspects in Yobe, Kogi and Kano states and captured a truck loaded with Cannabis, Tramadol and Diazepam tablets on Gombe-Bauchi road. Ta.
The agency also announced that former beauty queen Queen Adelinoe Christmas was wanted after she fled during a search of her Lekki residence and marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found.
The statement read: “Meanwhile, former beauty queen, Queen Aderinoye Christmas, also known as Queen Oluwadamilola Aderinoye, fled from her residence in Lekki, Lagos State when operatives of the NDLEA raided her apartment in Oral. He was later declared wanted by the authorities.” The estate, Lekki, announced on Wednesday, January 24, that she was dealing illegal drugs after receiving reliable information.
“The suspect was the 2015/2016 Miss Commonwealth Nigeria Culture and founder of Queen Christmas Foundation.
“Among the items recovered from her home during the search in the presence of real estate officials were 606 grams of Canadian Loud, synthetic cannabis strains, electronic weighing scales, large quantities of drugs packed in plastic, Lagos KSF A black RAV 4 SUV marked 872 GQ, especially her picture frame.”
Members of an international drug trafficking syndicate, Mr. Sunday Michael Owoborode and Mr. Valentine Anene were also arrested in Ogun State, while Mr. Sunday Adiran was arrested in Lagos with 20kg of Cannabis Sativa.
