The NDLEA has announced that the 2015/2016 Miss Commonwealth Nigeria Culture, Oluwadamilola Adelinoye, is wanted on suspicion of illegal drug trafficking.
Ms. Adelinoye is the founder of the Queen Christmas Foundation, a non-governmental organization.
NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi said in Abuja that the former beauty queen fled her home in Lekki, Lagos State as operatives approached her.
He said NDLEA operatives raided her apartment in Oral Estate, Lekki on January 24 after receiving credible information that she was dealing illegal drugs.
“Recovered from her home during a search attended by the estate administrator were 606 grams of Canadian Loud, a synthetic strain of Indian hemp.
“An electronic scale, a quantity of drugs packed in plastic, a black RAV 4 SUV, and a photo of her were also recovered from her residence,” it added.
Babafemi also said that two members of an international drug trafficking syndicate were arrested on January 25 at Edu Orita, Ogun.
He explained that on the day of his arrest, one of the suspects was preparing to leave for Qatar via Lagos with hard drugs.
“During their arrest, 1.8 kg of Indian hemp, electronic scales and other illegal drugs were recovered from the suspects,” he said.
Babafemi added that a 50-year-old man was also arrested after 20kg of Indian cannabis was found in a room of his house in Mushin Orosa, Lagos on January 24.
He also said that NDLEA recovered 87 compressed blocks of Indian cannabis weighing 73 kg. On January 26, another suspect gave him 21,346 tramadol tablets and 3,800 diazepam tablets.
The NDLEA spokesperson explained that the drugs were recovered when the suspects’ truck was intercepted at Lafiyawo, Gombe-Bauchi Road.
“In Plateau, a 35-year-old man was arrested on January 27 in Laing Zana area of Jos with 5.355kg of Indian hemp,” Babafemi said.
