Nathan Jones says Chuks Aneke will miss Saturday’s trip to Northampton due to a calf stiffness.
The Addicks forward has missed the majority of this and other seasons during his Charlton career, but has provided great inspiration off the bench in the last four League One games.
However, he was not selected for the matchday squad for the 1-1 draw against Sixfields.
“After Tuesday night, he felt stiff in his calf,” Jones said. [at Derby].There was no point in putting him at risk because we want him to be ready for Tuesday. [at Cheltenham]”
Tennai Watson was sent off midway through the second half of the game against Northamptonshire after receiving treatment on the field.
Jones added: “He’s been through it. He’s stiffed up. We know we can get 70 points from him, so we’ll have to see from there. That’s why we put Nathan Asimwe on the bench. I left it there – because I knew he might need it.”
