A murder investigation has been launched after a 66-year-old man was stabbed in a north London apartment.
The Metropolitan Police were called to a man with serious injuries in the common area of a flat in Lockhart Close, Enfield, at 7.28pm on Friday.
An ambulance also rushed to the scene, but the man died at the scene.
Detectives believe they know the man’s identity and will notify next of kin as they continue their investigation.
Detective Chief Inspector Laura Nelson, from the Special Crime Branch, said: “The victim had been stabbed inside a flat in Lockhart Close and was found in a common area of the flat with serious injuries.
“We are aware that local people are extremely concerned about this tragic incident and can assure you that our dedicated detectives are investigating. Give my best.”
The deceased have not been formally identified and a post-mortem examination has not yet been scheduled.
DCI Nelson said: “I would like to thank local residents who assisted police officers last night and this morning as they began their investigation. “Police will continue to support police, including forensic officers and other experts, who will assist in this arduous murder investigation. We will be active in this area.”
Police are appealing for information from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in Lockhart Close, Derby Road, Lincoln Road and surrounding areas on Friday night.
