A showcase of culture, pride and celebration — North Penn High School’s largest student-run event will return this spring on March 1 from 6:30 p.m. This is our second annual multicultural night.
North Penn’s newest tradition, Multicultural Night, showcases our diverse cultural clubs through performances, food, and activities. An evening full of different cultures will be showcased through the hard work of North Penn students.
2023 was the first year that Multiculturalism was held by the student committee in collaboration with advisors Mr. Mostert and Mr. Evans. The event also included performances in front of a packed audience, prompting the team to expand its resources this year. It also included different foods from around the world and activities like henna and coloring books for kids.
“Last year was the year of the pilot. We were very nervous about the outcome, but everyone who came to the show loved it,” said director Yordanos Lemma. “This year there will be so many clubs participating, including Germany, France and the Philippines. [leading to] More student participation. This year, the event will be held in an auditorium, and we expect around 600 people to attend, almost three times as many as last year. ”
Prior to the event, students spent a significant amount of time at the event through all three parts of the show. This year’s multicultural performance has more than 20 performances, which is almost twice as many as last year. The event will include plenty of activities and food.
“The diversity of food this year is amazing, ranging from East Africa to Southeast Asia to the heart of Louisiana and Black America. It’s so much more diverse than last year,” Lema said.
Individual cultural club events such as ICA’s Republic Night and AAAC to whom it may concern While the Black History Showcase has proven to be very successful for their respective clubs, events like Multicultural are a great way to experience and educate other cultures for those who don’t stray from their own culture. It’s an opportunity to All profits from Multicultural are reinvested into North’s Penn Cultural Club.
North Penn’s Multicultural Night is a special accomplishment as one of the only schools in the county to host a student-led event of this magnitude.
