Children from Thurso’s Mount Pleasant Primary School celebrated Robert Burns’ 265th birthday and enjoyed a celebration of all things Scottish.
Gaelic Medium Primary 6 and Primary 6/7 children entertained the whole school with an authentic Barnes Bonanza. First, the children played Burns’ song “Charlie Is My Darling.”
P7 Emme Spence and P6 teacher Shona McNicol then wore haggis and piped up.
The children then read ‘The Grace of Selkirk’ and ‘An Address to the Haggis’ and cook Sarah Farquhar cut open the haggis.
The fun continued throughout the school into the afternoon with music and entertainment provided by Robin Young.
Audrey Robson, the school’s deputy headteacher, said: “It was really nice to see the children following the traditions and coming together to celebrate. The six primary school children enjoyed their early pastime. They have done a fantastic job of delivering and this is a real credit to the school.”
