Smartwatches have become more or less a stable presence in today’s modern lifestyle, and no one will make fun of you for wearing a screen on your wrist anymore, except for lovers of classic mechanical watches. . That said, not everyone is a fan of these high-tech watches and would prefer a watch that is less distracting and focuses solely on the health tracking aspect. However, many dedicated fitness bands have a sporty, rugged design, and are worn by athletes who don’t mind wearing a rubber or silicone band on their wrists, even on formal occasions. It’s as if it’s only very active people. That’s where the new Moto Watch 40 comes in, offering a wearable that looks like a stylish smartwatch but is at heart a fitness band.

Although there was some experimentation in the beginning, smartwatches today only come in two shapes: square and round. While circular smartwatches have been touted as more classy and stylish due to their resemblance to most luxury watches, Apple Watch has always sought an equally elegant design for its square smartwatches. Ta. Naturally, some manufacturers have chosen to follow the same path, producing smartwatches that are, for better or worse, similar to the Apple Watch.

But the Moto Watch 40 is neither of those things, instead walking a fine line between a smartwatch and a smartband. Although it has the rectangular body often used in fitness trackers, the size and overall appearance of the device is closer to a smartwatch. The curved edges of the screen give it a sleeker look compared to the clunky look of typical fitness trackers.

But at the same time, it’s definitely not a smartwatch due to its limited functionality. It has a variety of sensors to track activities like blood oxygen levels and sleep, but it doesn’t have many advanced features or options that you’d find on a smartwatch. Only viewing notifications is supported, so you don’t have to take out your phone even if you want to reply to a message or answer a call. While 10 days of battery life may sound a little disappointing, the Moto Watch 40 makes up for it with its advertised charging speed of just 25 minutes.

It combines essential features with a stylish design for just $64.99. That may sound like an attractive proposition, especially if other fitness bands are too expensive or too casual. That said, a wrist-worn device may still be too noticeable for some people, and a smart ring that lets you wear your favorite mechanical watch instead could be the perfect compromise.
