what:An Italian restaurant located inside Mortimer House, a private members club in Fitzrovia. The Mortimer House Kitchen on his ground floor of the club is completely open to the public and previously operated simply as Mortimer House, overseen by Italian-born chef Antonio ‘Lello’ Fabuzzi. Despite his heritage, the menu was eclectic with strong Levantine elements (although there were certainly some nods to Italy as well).
Who:This handsome Art Deco building, part of Guy Ibesha’s Maslow’s group and also located at 1 Warwick in Soho, opened early last year and is the equivalent of its older Fitzrovia sibling, complete with a public restaurant. Equipped with facilities. (Ostensibly Nessa in modern Britain)There is a private members club downstairs. Evesha parachuted in with executive chef Tom Censi to lead the relaunch of Mortimer House’s main restaurant. The kitchen is run daily by head chef Tim Connor (who joined from Nessa) and the restaurant’s general manager is Grace Trozado, most recently at The Standard in London.
Vibrator:The 90-cover space maintains the same look and layout as the previous version, with an extensive Art Deco feel that reflects the exterior of the building. Design details include large windows that flood the room with natural light. At the rear of the space is a fully open kitchen. and a 20-seat PDR called “The Conservatory” with a more rustic aesthetic. Weather permitting, an additional 45 covered seats will also be installed outside on the street.

food:The menu, inspired by Cenci’s family vacations in Piedmont and the Amalfi Coast, begins with a selection of appetizer plates designed to be shared with scarpetta (a dish designed to be scooped with bread); , followed by more hearty pasta dishes and classic Italian main courses. ‘. Dishes include zucchini Caesar with Parmesan and pangratato; Beef tartare with nduja and bruschetta. Spaghetti al his pangratato with garlic and olive oil (pictured above). Maccheroni with truffle and black pepper taleggio. Chicken or eggplant parmigiana with marinara sauce (optional add fresh spaghetti with cured egg yolk). drink:Mortimer House bar manager Massimo Golfetto (previously at The Standard in London) worked with Cenci to create the Milano Bassano (Grappa Moscato, Cocchi Torino, Campari, Strawberry). ) and Alba (Campari, Quaife, La Yuze, Grapefruit Soda, Prosecco). The European wine list starts at £34 per bottle of still wine and has a total list of just under 50 items.
