A new vape shop has opened in a vacant storefront on Union Street in Aberdeen.
The new business, called Mobiles, Gadgets and Vapes, will occupy the space once vacated by the EE store and will officially open tomorrow.
The shop is located directly across Back Wind Road, sandwiched between Cancer Research UK and another vape shop, Refill Station.
In addition to stocking up on e-cig supplies, shoppers will also be able to purchase a variety of smartphone accessories, including cases, chargers and screen protectors, according to the owners.
We also perform a wide range of repairs for the latest iPhones and Android devices.
New store owners look forward to welcoming customers to Aberdeen
The new store is headed by Malik Haider, 28, who moved to the city just three days ago.
In an interview with the Press and Journal, he insisted his store “doesn’t compromise on quality.”
“We’ve been at Union Street for three days so far and expect to be fully open by tomorrow,” he said.
“The people here have been really good to us so far and really friendly, so we’re excited to continue.
“I’m really looking forward to welcoming and greeting everyone tomorrow.
“It’s my first time here so we’ll see what happens.
“There seems to be a flow of people into the city, providing decent services and selling good products.
“We don’t have any of the cheap stuff you see online. We don’t compromise on quality.”
Ban on disposable e-cigs doesn’t faze Aberdeen’s new shop owner
Mr Malik claimed that despite having a wide range of disposable e-cigarettes in store, he had not been phased in with new upcoming legislation banning the sale of e-cigarettes in Scotland.
He even said he agreed with the government’s decision.
He added: “I think banning e-cigarettes is a good move.
“Once a ban is in place and the government decides it is the right step, we will follow the rules.
“As far as I know, the reusables are still here, so we’ll continue to carry them.”
A new era for Union Street?
The revitalization, renewal and repopulation of Union Street has been at the center of city-wide discussions for several months.
Earlier this month, workers launched a bid for Aberdeen’s long-awaited £50m market in the hope that the bid will change the city centre’s fortunes.
Plans for a new destination linking The Green and Union Street, consisting of a food hall, bars and shops, were approved last year.
