Minister of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, Hannatu Msawa, on Saturday mourned the passing of popular Nollywood comedian and actor Tolani Quadri Oyebamizi, popularly known as Sisi Quadri, whose death was announced on Friday.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office in Abuja, the minister expressed shock over the sudden death of the Yoruba actor, who passed away after a short illness.
“I learned that the movie titled Anukurapo: Return of the Spectre, in which Sissi Quadri plays a wonderful role, was released on Netflix on Friday and is already being talked about. At a time when we should be enjoying the fruits of our labor. His death is timely and sad.
“I would like to express my sympathies to the next of kin of the deceased and pray for their souls to rest in peace regarding this unfortunate incident,” Msawa said.
Punch Online earlier reported that the actor, who hails from Iwo Jima, Osun State, passed away on Friday at the age of 44. The cause of death has not yet been confirmed.
Announcing his death, Nollywood actress, Abiola Bayo wrote on her verified Instagram handle, “Sisi Quadri, you will be sorely missed. May your soul rest in complete peace.”
He is best known for his role in the movie ‘Senyan Seranko’ which was released on December 4, 2004.
The late actor was also set to dazzle audiences with his new film Anikulapo: Return of the Spectre, which is set to be released in theaters nationwide soon but also just released on Netflix.
