First of all, let me say that I love blushers. There was a time in my late teens and early twenties when it was all about applying bronzer and looking as tanned as possible, but since then my English rose skin tone has been slightly bronzed. It looks great, but I learned that a beautiful blush is important. What really brightens my complexion?
I’ve tried them all: the best cream blushes, liquid blushes, and of course the traditional powder formulas. There are over 30 types in the collection. However, I often find myself needing to reapply throughout the day and before going out in the evening.
To be honest, a method that is less familiar to me is cheek smudging. My only real experience with this type of blush is with Benefit Benetint. I tried this and it failed. The shades are beautiful, but they don’t work well with the doe foot applicator which is too small to create the flash of color that I’m looking for. I can’t get it to blend in the right places quickly enough before it dries and clumps.
Because it’s what stains your cheeks – it’s built to last. The new Milk Makeup Cooling Water Jelly Tint does just that.

Although the new shades are not yet available in the UK, they have already been trending on Instagram and TikTok, and have caused a huge uproar in the US, with 45,000 people on Sephora’s waiting list in the US and 24% when they go on sale. It was sold out in time. .
So what’s all the fuss about? I managed to get my hands on the set before the UK release date (March 18th at Sephora, Asos, Space NK and Cult Beauty), tried it out, and give my honest thoughts below. Masu…
Milk Makeup Jelly Tint Review
First of all, I really liked the packaging and the twist-up bullet applicator. This makes it much easier to get the color on your cheeks, just swipe and blend. I would like to add that, like Benetint, these stains dry very quickly. However, I don’t think this is much of an issue since you can swipe directly to where you want.
Available in four shades.
– Burst: Bright pink
– Spritz: Pinky Coral
– Splash: Deep Berry
– Chill: Poppy Red
I liked all the shades except Splash on my skin tone. It’s a light shade, so if you want a subtle hint of color on your cheeks, it might actually be too much.

The brand recommends using a brush or sponge to blend, and I agree. I think a brush is more effective. If I want a bold, bright finish (honestly, this jelly tint is made for that), I find that I blend it out with a quick swipe with a darker brush. If you’re going for a softer look, you can actually swipe the brush over the stick before applying it to your cheeks. However, I’ve found that the best way to apply this stain is to dot it where you want it, then tap with your middle finger to blend. Gives a really beautiful diffused look.
I have to talk about why it’s called Cooling Water Jelly Tint. It’s made with seawater (how luxurious!) and aloe vera, so it feels just like water when you apply it. It’s cold and watery, like melting ice on your cheek. It looks like jelly, and when applied to the cheeks, it shakes quite a bit.

The brand says it doesn’t stain, but I disagree because I had to wipe a few drops from the sink when applying. But it wasn’t anything dramatic and certainly didn’t turn me away from them.
You can also use it on your lips, but I’m not really interested in it. My lips have always been dry and when I used this on my lips, it actually felt dry. So, if you’re like me, I’ll stick with your trusty lip balm.
I can see myself becoming obsessed with these during the warmer months, especially during the holidays, when my makeup is much lighter and I hardly ever apply base. The idea of not having to worry about reapplying and being able to swipe and go is very appealing to me.
