A huge fire broke out at a block of flats in west London last night.
Around 125 firefighters were working on the hellish Elm Road in Wembley as local residents were forced to evacuate their homes.
By 10pm on Monday, the fire appeared to be largely extinguished, but 25 fire engines were still at the scene.
Early footage showed smoke billowing from the building, flames tearing through several apartments, and firefighters on ladders spraying water into the building.
London Fire Brigade said there were no reports of injuries, but part of the building’s roof was on fire, which was eventually extinguished.
The block and surrounding buildings were evacuated as a precaution, the brigade said.
After evacuation, the evacuation of all residents was completed.
Their statement said: “People are advised to avoid the area while crews respond.
“One of the brigade’s 32-metre turntable ladders is being used as a water tower to help extinguish the fire.
“Air traffic controllers have received eight calls reporting fires, with the first call received at 4:42 p.m.
“Firefighters from Wembley, Park Royal, Northolt and surrounding fire stations are attending the scene.”
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
This is a developing story.
