We are supporting the Intellectual Property Office’s (IPO) latest awareness campaign focused on beauty and hygiene products.
The “Choose Safe Over Fake” campaign focuses on beauty and hygiene products, and IPO’s research found that many consumers are unaware of the risks of using fake products.
The study found that consumers who purchase such counterfeit products mistakenly believe that the counterfeit products are similar or manufactured under the same conditions as the genuine product, and are typically exposed to the health risks associated with using counterfeit products. Turns out I didn’t realize it.

Tests conducted on some of the seized counterfeit beauty and hygiene products found they contained carcinogenic ingredients such as arsenic, lead and mercury.
The samples were found to contain rodent urine and horse feces, further evidence of unsanitary production.
Inspired by the aesthetics of typical beauty advertising, the campaign brings together influencers, targeted social media ads, and the press to expose these shocking and often dangerous ingredients and encourage consumers to Helping you make informed choices.

This builds on previous consumer campaign work carried out by the IPO since the announcement of its ambitious five-year anti-infringement strategy, in which the firm aims to increase public understanding of intellectual property rights and ultimately continues to fulfill its commitment to respect.
