One person has died after an emergency on a train from London to Liverpool.
Passengers were forced to disembark the Avanti West Coast flight from Euston to Liverpool Lime Street at 2.43pm today shortly after departure.
The train stopped at Watford Junction and emergency services rushed to the station.
Police said the man died at the scene.
A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called to Watford Junction station at 3.02pm following reports of a person being killed or injured on a train.
“Paramedics also rushed to the scene, but unfortunately one person was pronounced dead at the scene.
“This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
One witness told X that despite the dire conditions, staff on board the train handled the “harrowing” situation “professionally”.
They said: “A medical emergency occurred in Euston on the 14:43 flight from Euston to Liverpool.”
“Due to our personal circumstances, the changes to the emergency situation at Watford have been extremely stressful and I would like to commend all staff who have responded.”
