A man suspected of flying from London to New York without a ticket or passport has been arrested again.
Craig Sturt, 46, was taken into custody in Richmond, southwest London, around 8am on Monday on suspicion of failing to appear in court.
The Metropolitan Police said Sturt failed to appear at a hearing at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on January 22. He remains in custody at a London police station following his arrest.
He was first arrested at around 8pm on Christmas Day after returning to London on a flight from New York.
Scotland Yard said the man, from Slough, Berkshire, was charged with obtaining service by deception, unlawfully remaining airside and boarding an aircraft without permission.
According to The Sun, Sturt passed through security and immigration without presenting any documents. Heathrow Airport before boarding a British Airways flight on December 23rd.
He was stopped on arrival at JFK Airport and deported to the UK, where he was arrested and charged with fraud and criminal offenses under the Aviation Security Act.
He admitted the crime in Uxbridge Magistrates Court, according to court records.
British Airways said in a statement: “We are assisting authorities with their investigation.”
A spokesperson for Heathrow Airport said: “Everyone going airside, including the individuals involved in this incident, will be subject to security screening.
“We are assisting authorities with their ongoing investigation.”
