AFC Wimbledon will host international rugby this year, with the United States and others gathering at London’s Plow Lane, it was announced on Thursday.
The LIT7s series will feature the USA, Ireland, Germany, Jamaica, Uganda and more in a men’s and women’s sevens tournament in south-west London.
Some of Britain’s greatest athletes are set to compete ahead of this year’s 2024 Paris Olympics, but the invited teams of Shoguns and Hammerheads will be short-staffed.
The British Army and Rugby for Heroes will also field teams.
Wimbledon will be oval
This was due to the absence of the London 7s, who were abolished from World Rugby when World Rugby’s governing body reorganized the international schedule.
It also plans to provide preparations to countries such as the United States for this year’s Olympics, where the sevens competition will be held at the Stade de France.
Mike Friday, head coach of the USA 7s team, explains his reasons for joining his team.
“This is a great opportunity for international teams to secure valuable competitive time for their athletes in the lead-up to the Paris Olympics.”

Former England international Megan Gaffney said: “We always aim to play a competitive level of rugby at the Hammerheads, so it’s always exciting to play against international teams and players.” Told.
The event is scheduled for May 25th, with an announcement scheduled for March 7th.
Wimbledon’s Plow Lane, officially known as the Cherry Red Record Stadium, is currently the home of League Two and Super League rugby team, the London Broncos.
