Under the reorganization of the Greater London Authority (GLA) team announced last year, a design unit will be created within the authority’s planning and regeneration team to “drive design excellence across and beyond the GLA Group”. Installed.

Candidates must have urban design, architecture, planning, or related experience, as well as excellent project management and “proven” communication skills.

The department’s new head will oversee the development of a strategy to “promote world-class architecture, sustainability, viability and inclusive design in London’s buildings, public spaces and urban fabric”, as well as Responsible for managing design reviews and facility operations. A document outlining last year’s plans said the post’s salary would result in an additional net cost to taxpayers of £27,000 a year, but the cost of the role would be moved elsewhere as part of a wider restructuring. This will be partially offset by the removal of vacant positions. .

GLA’s reorganization also sees the creation of “multidisciplinary matrix teams” called Place Units, which will focus on area and location-based work.
Another new role, the £75,750 post of area manager within the Places Unit, was advertised last month.
