The UK Hair and Beauty Awards community comes together every year to celebrate the hair and beauty industry in style. The annual VIP Red His Carpet event includes a once-in-a-lifetime experience with celebrity guests, hosts, and entertainment, and is open to attendees only by invitation.
Lydia Reece Martin, 33, a nail artist from Torquay, studied Level 2 Nail Technology at South Devon University and qualified in 2014.
Lydia said: “I remember painting my nails when I was in school!” Leading up to starting my business, I kept my knowledge up to date by furthering my education in my profession. I have continually trained and improved my skill set while maintaining my skills. I received training with her Efile and also training on the gel products from the brand Magpie Beauty that I use. In September 2023, I took the plunge and started my own business as a single mother. Full of pure determination and planning to succeed. I created a nail studio that provides a safe space for people to be themselves, a non-intimidating space to relax and be pampered.
“I offer luxury nail treatments specializing in nail art and gel. So far, I have been involved in creating my own business plan, branding, marketing, photography, product modeling, content creation, and creating my own I have successfully created a website. “In November 2023, I became a brand ambassador for my favorite cuticle oil brand, Blabz Beauty Bar. In December 2023, I launched a website where you can book online. I did.
A system and shop where you can buy custom made luxury nail presses, nail decals and other products! We were also selected as a finalist in the UK HBA Awards for Nail Technician 2024. In the past few months of my business venture, I have achieved all of my goals. I’m really looking forward to realizing my vision and proving that no matter the changes in life, you can thrive and be successful.
“For the past four years, I have overcome many personal challenges, beat all odds, and single-handedly made my dreams come true while juggling being a mother and running a business. I have big dreams and goals and am planning to achieve them. This is just the beginning of my story. As Nail Technician of the Year, I hope to win first place at the national or regional competition. It means everything to me that I was able to accomplish what I set out to do in such a short period of time since starting my practice. I believe in myself now, even though I didn’t have the courage to do so years ago. I am proud to have turned dreams into reality. I act with intention and work hard to realize my brand’s vision.
“I want people to feel safe and comfortable in my space, so I offer silent therapy for those who don’t want to make small talk. Mental health awareness means a lot to me,” she says. I would love to incorporate that into my business/brand. Everyone has the right to feel good and engage in self-care without feeling judged.
“The mission of the UK Hair and Beauty Awards is to support businesses of all sizes and offer new opportunities through social media and the world of hair and beauty to all nominees, regardless of their economic or social status. HBA supports small businesses by breaking down barriers and helps contestants build a following and name recognition even if they don’t win. I’m praising it.
It has entered.
