Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will be anxiously awaiting an update on Trent Alexander-Arnold’s fitness after he was sidelined for three weeks with the same knee injury in January.

“Knee again? Yes, it was like that. He put it in the grass, so let’s see. We need to be evaluated,” Klopp said.
“It’s the same part of the knee. Nothing was really wrong, but he felt it again, so we’ll have to look at it and evaluate it.
“Trent said, ‘Okay,’ but he’s not okay (because that’s how he feels). We had to be careful and take him out. It’s a double issue. Trent is off. And the other thing was that there was no other right-back available.
“So we told Curtis (Jones) what he had to do and tried to change the formation a little bit and make it as simple as possible for him because he plays in that position (in the Premier League). It was the first time in his life and we didn’t want him to be the opposite right-back and have to think about these things as well.”
Although it may not look that way in the medium term, Dara O’Shea headed in the equaliser, just before half-time, before substitute Harvey Elliott assisted Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez, so Alexander =Arnold’s departure proved beneficial.
“Harvey came on and did really well. All the other players did well and scored 2-1 at the right time to give the game the right direction,” added Klopp, adding that Manchester City beat Everton at lunchtime and briefly took the lead, but the team regained a two-point advantage. “We scored the third goal, but we could have scored more, everything was good. It’s perfect except for the Trent situation.”
