There was chaos at London’s Euston station tonight, with trains across the country suffering significant delays.
Avanti West Coast London North Western Railway is expected to experience “massive disruption” with a number of cancellations and delays.
Emergency services attended the incident near Milton Keynes early this afternoon. Although routes have resumed, delays and cancellations continue, including many routes from Manchester to Piccadilly.
“Trains running between these stations may continue to be suspended, delayed by up to 60 minutes, or modified. Major disruptions are expected to continue until 9:30 p.m.,” according to the latest information from JNR.

‘Swans on the tracks’ causes further confusion
London North Western Railway posted on X that the disruption to London Euston was exacerbated by a swan on the line.
The update said: “The Swan on the line outside Euston has been moved and services can now resume.”
The railway company added that the animal was “injured” and “located in an area with limited access and causing service congestion.”
